Preschool Programmes

We provide a safe and nurturing environment where little ones are cared for with love, gentle guidance, and engaging routines that build confidence from the very start. As they grow, structured yet fun learning experiences spark curiosity and creativity, while our preschool curriculum strengthens literacy, numeracy, and social skills. Together, these foundations prepare children for a joyful and confident transition to primary school.

Enrichment Activities

Beyond the classroom, children enjoy a wide range of enrichment activities that nurture their talents and interests. These include Science, English Speech & Drama, Public Speaking, Chinese Show & Tell, Soccer, Taekwondo, Arts, Abacus, and Mandarin Music. Through these experiences, children develop creativity, confidence, communication skills, and a love for learning, helping each child shine in their own unique way.

The Cherie Hearts SPIRAL Literacies Curriculum

Our in-house SPIRAL Literacies curriculum, inspired by the New London Group’s “Pedagogy of Multi-literacies,” goes beyond reading and writing to nurture holistic growth. Through five key literacies—Civic & Social, Environmental, Critical, Financial, and Mental Health—we take a progressive approach from Playgroup to Kindergarten 2, equipping children with essential 21st century skills to thrive in a changing world.

Messy Day

Messy Day is all about fun, creativity, and exploration! Held once a month, children come in their swimsuits to get hands-on, explore freely, and let their creativity flow. Along the way, they strengthen motor skills while sharing laughter, teamwork, and creative art with friends.

Monthly Outdoor Learning @ Surin Park

Surin Park Day is a monthly outdoor adventure, held in addition to regular excursions, that takes learning beyond the classroom. Children get to strengthen gross motor skills, build confidence, and develop an appreciation for nature. They also contribute to the Keep Singapore Clean movement, a national rally call for Singapore to move from being a ‘clean city' to a 'truly clean city’.

FUN Start, MOVE Smart

This groundbreaking motor-skills development programme, developed by the Singapore Sports Council, is adopted to instill life-long physical literacy in children. Each day, they enjoy an hour of outdoor play—blending free play with purposeful activities that build strength, coordination, and confidence.

Preschool Health Programme

Adopted from the Health Promotion Board, this programme uses engaging activities and storybooks to help children develop healthy habits. Guided by teachers with the support of six enthusiastic health ambassadors— covering nutrition, physical activity, mental wellness, myopia prevention, oral health, anti-smoking, and childhood injury prevention—children embark on fun, exploratory journeys that inspire lifelong healthy living.

Letterland

Children will be engaged to learn phonics through the songs, games, storybooks and activity sheets adapted from the Letterland phonics programme.

Chinese and English Literacy Programme

Children will be introduced to the different genres of books such as fiction and non-fiction books to enhance their literacy in English and Chinese Language.

Playgroup and Pre-Nursery

The Jump Start Years (18 months – 3 years)

Our Jump Start Years curriculum enriches toddler development through play-based learning and a stimulating physical environment using the Third Teacher approach.

Children engage in enjoyable experiences that enhance communication and language, social and emotional, physical, and cognitive development. They explore creativity and emotional expression, build thinking and problem-solving skills, strengthen fine and gross motor skills through coordinated movements and active play, and develop language abilities, communicating effectively while expanding their vocabulary and understanding

Early Literacy

We aim to nurture a love for language and reading from the start. In Playgroup, children focus on communication and language skills, developing confidence in expressing themselves and understanding others. In Pre-Nursery, the emphasis shifts to phonemic awareness through the engaging Letterland approach, helping children recognise letters and sounds as the foundation for future reading and writing.

Art Attack

Art Attack sparks creativity and imagination in children through hands-on art experiences. They explore different materials, textures, and techniques, learning to express themselves while developing fine motor skills, focus, and confidence in their creative abilities.

Mould Away

Mould Away allows children to experiment with clay, dough, and other mouldable materials, enhancing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Through tactile play, they develop creativity, problem-solving abilities, and enjoy the satisfaction of bringing their ideas to life.

Cookery

Cookery engages children in fun, safe cooking activities where they learn basic food preparation, measuring, and following instructions. This programme fosters independence, practical life skills, teamwork, and an appreciation for healthy eating.

Self-Help Skills

Self-Help Skills empowers children to develop independence in daily routines such as dressing, feeding, and personal hygiene. Through guided practice and encouragement, they gain confidence, responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment in managing themselves.

Nursery, K1 & K2

The Bridging Years: 4-6 years old

Our Bridging Years curriculum introduces older children to more complex and varied experiences across Language & Literacy, Mathematical Thinking, Environmental Awareness, Aesthetic & Creative Expression, Motor Development, and Self & Social Awareness. The final year also focuses on preparing children for a smooth transition to Primary 1, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and independence needed for the next stage of learning.

Differentiated Reading

Guided reading in small groups focuses on improving reading fluency and sight word recognition. Teachers regularly assess children to determine readiness for the next reading level, using Cambridge Reading Adventure for English and 乐中学《排排坐》 for Chinese.

Internal Reading

K1 and K2 children are guided to read on a one-to-one basis, allowing teachers to regularly assess their progress and provide customized support. Children who have mastered the basics are challenged with intermediate and advanced books to further develop their reading skills.

Zippy’s Friend

Zippy’s Friends is an international, evidence-based programme that helps children aged 5 to 7 develop social and coping skills through activities such as stories, role play, drawing, puppet work, and games. In K1 and K2, children learn to manage everyday challenges, express their feelings, explore solutions, and support their peers — a programme proven effective in Asian countries like India, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.

Care for Safety

The Singapore Red Cross Society programme teaches children about safety in a fun and engaging way. The K2 Cherians will learn Basic First Aid knowledge through interactive activities and quizzes, and learn to activate appropriate help during medical emergencies.

SCDF Fire Safety

The SCDF Preschool Teachers’ Resource Kit complements the existing curriculum by raising children’s awareness of fire dangers and their role in caring for the community. Through these activities, K1 and K2 Cherians learn about fire safety, prevention, and the “STOP, DROP, and ROLL” response if their clothes catch fire.

KidzLive: I Can Protect Myself

KidzLive teaches children to protect themselves against sexual abuse. Catered for the K2 Cherians, the Singapore Children’s Society programme incorporates interactive elements to teach children to respect their bodies, differentiate between good and bad touches, and to tell a trusted adult if they are touched inappropriately.

I’m POSSIBLE

I’mPOSSIBLE, developed by the Agitos Foundation (the International Paralympic Committee’s development arm), is an education programme that promotes Paralympic values and inclusion among young people. As part of this, our K2 Cherians will learn about courage, determination, inspiration, and equality through para-athlete stories and hands-on Para Sport activities.

Life Skills Programme

Adventure awaits! Through camping, hiking, and exciting outdoor activities, children learn practical skills, teamwork, and problem-solving—all while building independence, confidence, and a love for exploring the world around them.
